When you have exceeded the amount of Resources you can have, 

you will not be able to retrieve the Resources in the Alliance Depot in the normal way.

In this case, you will receive the excess Resources via mail.

You can upgrade your Depot to receive it normally, or you can use some of your Resources to free up room.
